This past Summer we were first introduced to KYHealth and the changes that were set to take place with KY Medicaid. While it did not start as planned on July 1, it will take effect Jan. 1, 2019. All those with KY Medicaid including Passport Health Plan, Humana CareSource, Wellcare of Kentucky, Aetna Better Health, and Anthem Medicaid will be impacted by these changes.
Co-pays, monthly premiums, prescription drug costs, and more will all be introduced in the coming new year. Co-pays at a primary care facility will be $3.00, prescription drug costs will be between $1.00 and $4.00 each, lab and x-rays will also be $3.00. Other services will also require payments now as well. Premiums will be made directly to the insurance provider and will not be paid to a doctors office of any kind.
The next biggest change is that dental and vision services are no longer traditionally covered. This means patients will have to earn rewards dollars in their “My Citizen Connect” accounts in order to pay for dental or vision needs. Patients can start earning rewards dollars now and they do roll over to the new year. Things like preventative health services (yearly check-up, etc.) are eligible for My Rewards Dollars.
