People have already started to get the flu, even though flu season will not be in full swing for another month or so. October is just the beginning. We have no idea how bad flu season will be this year, but we do know that a flu shot will help minimize your chances of getting the flu.
The sooner you get the flu shot, the lower the chances are of you catching the flu. It also helps you prevent spreading the flu! Young children, elderly individuals, and those with compromised immune systems cannot get the flu shot and rely on the rest of us to keep them safe.
If you do contract the flu this year, it is important to stay home until you are 24 hrs symptom free. This means no fever, no chills, no nothing for a full day before going back to school or work. Your body will have the time it needs to recover and you will help keep the spread of germs down.
